Sources: MLB Could Have Pool Of Free Agents Playing In Nashville
MLB has been talking with the city of Nashville about having two teams there of "unsigned players" for when play restarts in July, according to sources cited by The Athletic's Jayson Stark. The players "would make $400/week." MLB teams would "have to pay a fee to Nashville to sign one of those players" (TWITTER.com, 6/23). In Nashville, Paul Skrbina notes there have been "meaningful" discussions between the Triple-A PCL Nashville Sounds and MLB about "hosting games at First Horizon Park." The free agent players "would act as an emergency system to MLB teams during the season and would play against each other in Nashville" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 6/24).
