Beasley Media Group Acquires OWL Houston Outlaws From Immortals
Beasley Media Group has acquired the Overwatch League Houston Outlaws from Immortals Gaming Club for an undisclosed amount, and the Outlaws as part of the deal will "remain in Houston and represent the Houston, Austin, and San Antonio areas" in the OWL, according to Kevin Hitt of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. Beasley's acquisition of the Outlaws "marks its third venture into the esports space" with investments in multi-team esports organization Renegades and weekly syndicated lifestyle show CheckpointXP. The Outlaws had been in negotiations with Houston real estate investor Lee Zieben, who had "allegedly agreed to terms with Immortals" to purchase the Outlaws for $40M. That deal "apparently fell through" (ESPORTSOBSERVER.com, 11/15). Immortals in June "acquired Infinite Esports & Entertainment," which owned the Outlaws and OpTic Gaming. However, Immortals had to "sell the Outlaws because they already owned" an OWL team, the L.A. Valiant, and league rules "forbid ownership to have claim to two teams in the OWL" (ESPN.com, 11/14).
