First-Ever Racing Simulation Esports Arena Being Built In Miami
The world's first esports arena "dedicated solely to simulated auto racing" is being built in Miami and is "slated to open" in '20, according to C. Isaiah Smalls II of the MIAMI HERALD. The 12,000 square-foot facility, being built by Canadian-based gaming company Millennial Esports, will "seat 300 and feature 30 racing simulators." Simulators can be "raced on individually, linked with any of the other rigs or networked to race against competition from across the globe." Millennial Esports President & CEO Darren Cox in a statement said, "Nobody has built anything like this at this level -- we want this to be the 'Formula 1' of racing esports facilities." The $2.8M complex also will "serve as a training grounds for professional drivers." It will "include a full-motion simulator similar to the ones used by professional race teams" (MIAMI HERALD, 10/5).
