Vikings Make Notable Upgrades To U.S. Bank Stadium For '19
The Vikings "worked in the offseason to offer fans new attractions inside" U.S. Bank Stadium, including "technology boosts, a quiet room, renovated club spaces, new foods and more concession stands," according to Rochelle Olson of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. The "new 'sensory inclusive space,' designed by Birmingham, Ala.-based nonprofit KultureCity, is on the upper concourse behind section 346." In the technology space, the Vikings have "installed four remote-controlled high-definition cameras throughout the stadium that will snap photos every 20 minutes." After the game, fans can "go online, scan the crowd and tag themselves." The team previously "used the technology for one game" in '16. In addition, the Vikings have "launched Apple Business Chat, which allows fans to communicate directly with the team during the game through the messages app on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch." Meanwhile, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel is "opening a new space, called Little Six Casino's Club Gold, on the south side of the stadium"(Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 9/8).
COME ONE, CALL ALL: In Seattle, Bob Condotta noted the Seahawks will become the latest NFL team to offer a sensory room during games this season, "due in large part to a push from Traci Schneider," the wife of Exec VP & GM John Schneider. The room is "located at Southwest guest services." No registration is "necessary but all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times." A TV is "in the room so that all can continue to watch the game." Schneider said that "at least nine other NFL teams offer something similar" (SEATTLE TIMES, 9/7). The AP's Rob Maaddi noted the Eagles partnered with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and KultureCity in the offseason to "build a state-of-the-art sensory room" on a suite level inside Lincoln Financial Field to "accommodate fans and families managing sensory challenges." They "became the first NFL team to create a fully dedicated sensory room inside their stadium" (AP, 9/7).
