LAKE SHOW: ABC's JIMMY KIMMEL asked KOBE BRYANT whether he takes “any role in encouraging” NBA free agents to join the Lakers. Bryant: “I stay away from it. I'm real close with (Lakers GM ROB PELINKA). ... So we'll talk, often just as a sounding board for him.” Kimmel said Bryant could be Pelinka’s “surrogate and you could actually reach out” to free agents. Bryant: “I could, but I won’t. … Rob is more than capable of handling the job and all the pressure that comes along with that” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 9/3).
