Cubs' Maddon Creates "Try Not to Suck" Beer To Benefit Foundation

Cubs manager Joe Maddon is "developing a beer to benefit his charitable foundation," Respect 90, named after his "iconic slogan -- 'Try Not to Suck,'" which will hit store shelves this month, according to Josh Noel of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Maddon found the opportunity by "teaming up with Chicago nonprofit Rags of Honor 1, which serves homeless veterans and is planning a brewery, RnR Brewing, that will be staffed by vets." The beer will be made by Haymarket Beer, and sales will "benefit both Respect 90 and Rags of Honor 1." Maddon said that he expects Try Not to Suck to be "available in Chicago through the baseball season and likely beyond, as part of a growing portfolio of products benefiting Respect 90." The beer is "tied tightly to Maddon," whose name is "touted on the can as 'Joe Maddon's Try Not to Suck.'" The beer "debuted at Binny's Beverage Depot and Jewel-Osco, and will appear at other locations in the coming weeks" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 4/23).
