Media Notes

The Bergen RECORD notes Yankees radio announcer John Sterling and Red Sox radio announcer Joe Castiglione were "scheduled to switch booths for the fourth inning" of yesterday's game, but that has "now been moved" to tomorrow. Rain "pushed the start time of the game back" from 1:00pm to 7:00pm ET, and Sterling's radio partner, Suzyn Waldman, who is Jewish, was "no longer able to broadcast the game because the Yom Kippur holiday began at sundown." WFAN Yankees beat reporter Sweeney Murti filled in for Waldman, and he tweeted before the game that the "crossover plan was pushed back" to tomorrow (Bergen RECORD, 9/19).

THE REPLACEMENTS: In Detroit, Lynn Henning notes former MLBer Dan Petry will "work as a pre- and postgame analyst" during Saturday and Sunday’s FS Detroit Tigers telecasts, filling in for Craig Monroe, who "has a weekend engagement." There is "no indication Petry will be considered" for a full-time position as the Tigers and FSD make plans for '19 in the wake of Mario Impemba and Rod Allen's suspensions. The Tigers have been "getting by, in the radio and FSD booths, with a variety of arrangements" (DETROIT NEWS, 9/19).

ALL THINGS COME TO AN END: Indianapolis-based WTHR-NBC has "laid off sports columnist Bob Kravitz," who left the Indianapolis Star in '14 to "join the station" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 9/19)....Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Jerry Zgoda is leaving the T'Wolves beat after covering the team for a total of 15 seasons over two stints with the paper. Chris Hine will take over the T'Wolves beat (STARTRIBUNE.com, 9/18).
