Weekend Plans With Team Epic Exec VP Michelle Berg: Football Fix, Beach Birthday
For Team Epic Exec VP MICHELLE BERG, this weekend is an opportunity to savor what is left of the summer weather in the beach town of Fairfield, Conn., and at the same time usher in one of her favorite autumn hobbies. She said, “I am 100% a summer person and I go into a funk typically when fall starts. But the good part about fall is that football is back. At least there is some happiness in there.”
YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY: Friday night after work will be spent shuttling my kids around. I have a 16-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. She has just gotten into cheerleading and has a big practice on Friday ahead of a game this weekend. I start my Saturday off by trying to get up early so that I can go work out. I am a practitioner of the Bar Method. I go spend an hour doing that before I get into my normal weekend routine. I do a lot of the household work like grocery shopping for the family. But this Saturday my beloved Florida State Seminoles are playing Charleston Southern. I am not sure if it will be televised, but I will do my best to find it. I will hopefully be flipping back between that and the U.S. Open. Saturday is my birthday and I will be down at the beach with my family and my best friend eating a lobster dinner.
GARDEN PARTY: Sunday morning I will be going to church as it kicks off the new church year with the kids all being back at school. They do a big welcome back picnic right after services. I will then sit down and enjoy some NFL football. It is inevitable that there will be some work, but I usually do that while I am watching TV. I will sit in my family room with my laptop and try to crank out some work while I watch football and tennis. I am a huge tennis fan. I like to play that and run. I also find weeding the garden very cathartic. If I need some quiet chill out time, I will find a bunch of weeds to pull in my gardens around my house.
READING RAINBOW: I have been on a reading binge this summer, all fiction. Out of all the books I have purchased, there is only one left that I have not read. I am going to have to start going to a library because it is getting really expensive buying books. I am not much of a non-fiction reader. I like the escape that fiction provides. I do the cooking in the household. My best cooking is in the fall on Sundays with a nice glass of wine. I like to experiment and try different things. I have a very open family and they do not mind being guinea pigs, except for my son who is extremely picky and I always have to make him something else on the side. My husband and my daughter are very brave and honest in telling me if they like something.
