GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER: FLEER/SKYBOX SOLD TO FAMILY

Both SPORTS COLLECTORS DIGEST and BECKETT INSIDER are
reporting that Fleer/SkyBox has been sold to the father-son
tandem of Alex and Roger Grass. BECKETT reports that Marvel
announced that it entered into a definitive agreement for
the sale of Fleer/SkyBox for a purchase price of $26M in
cash to the "newly formed private company" called Golden
Cards. Roger Grass: "We met with the management team and
were impressed with what they were doing and have been doing
over [the] past two years, excluding the bankruptcy, and we
felt these guys could continue to run the business
profitably." He said that he "expects no immediate changes
to Fleer/SkyBox's personnel" and that he hopes the deal
closes in the next couple of weeks (BECKETT INSIDER, 2/1).
SPORTS COLLECTORS DIGEST reports that Fleer/SkyBox will
continue to operate under a three-person management
committee: Bill Bordegon in Marketing & Sales; Oscar Hauer
in Manufacturing and Chris Tobia in Finance (SCD, 2/2).
