NASCAR's Jim France Makes Rare Public Remarks In Las Vegas

NASCAR Chair & CEO Jim France made some of his first public remarks since taking on the role in August yesterday after he received the '18 NMPA Myers Brothers Award in Las Vegas. France received the award, voted on by the members of the National Motorsports Press Association, for the active role he has taken since replacing his nephew Brian France. France has not spoken to the media at all since taking on the role, but he remarked to the crowd at yesterday’s NMPA Myers Brothers Luncheon at The Wynn Las Vegas that one of the actual Myers brothers was his favorite driver growing up in the '50s.

France: “I’ve had the opportunity the last part of this season to spend a lot of time again in the garage area and the pits of our racing series. To pass on an observation, from the 1950s pits at Bowman Gray Stadium to the Monster Energy Series pits of 2018, the NASCAR spirit and the competitive spirit of the drivers and teams is alive and well, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
