Acura Grand Prix Of Long Beach On Pace For Ticket Sales Gains

Ticket sales for this weekend's Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach are tracking to be up slightly from last year, when there were a reported 185,000 attendees over three days, according to event President & CEO Jim Michaelian. Michaelian earlier this week said he was expecting about 55,000 fans Friday and then 65,000 on Saturday for the IMSA race, and another 65,000 on Sunday for the NTT IndyCar Series race. He credited new title sponsor Acura with helping ticket sales by running a local TV campaign in recent weeks promoting the race.

Acura will have an Acura owners-only hospitality area and eight NSX models to serve as pace cars. The race has a 44-year streak of no rain on its Sunday IndyCar race day, Michaelian said. With forecasts hovering around 0% for race time Sunday, the event appears primed to extend the streak to 45.
