Job Title: Business Development, Senior Manager


Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer


Background:
USA Triathlon seeks a business development executive to drive measurable sales in the following key areas: endemic and non-endemic corporate sponsorship, digital and print media/advertising, and activations at national events. The role focuses on maximizing existing revenue streams while also creating new ones. In addition to providing considerable mutual benefit and ROI to the partner, USA Triathlon’s business relationships are designed to directly benefit all membership constituency groups, programs and events.


Primary Responsibilities:
• Identify prospective category-leading, endemic and non-endemic companies, and successfully demonstrate the value proposition of corporate partnership with USA Triathlon.
• Develop proposals and sales presentation materials, and facilitate the negotiation and execution of written agreements.
• Collaborate on a regular basis with Chief Marketing Officer, a sales agency of record and other third-party consultants to realize business development opportunities.
• Manage all aspects of advertising sales: USA Triathlon Magazine, e-newsletters including the weekly MultiSport Zone, and National Championship event programs; includes handling insertion orders, placement, ad copy and billing/accounts receivable.
• Manage the renewal process and negotiate with existing partners prior to end of contract term.
• Conduct annual audits of asset valuations, maintain prospect lists, and track sales figures.
• Manage expo sales efforts and vendor relationships for partners and non-partners at USA Triathlon National Championships and ITU events hosted in the U.S.; liaise with local organizing committees as necessary.
• Represent USA Triathlon while developing and expanding corporate relationships at select industry trade shows.
• Coordinate with other members of the Marketing & Communications team to ensure a smooth transition for new clients into partner family; strategize with other business units to help realize organizational goals through new corporate partnerships.
• All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, business, sports administration or a similar field.
• Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in sports industry sales and/or marketing fields.
• Software proficiency should include CRM (e.g., Sales Force), MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint/Prezi and Publisher.
• Willingness to travel and work additional hours as necessary, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team atmosphere, including effective coordination with members of other departments.
• Experience within, or knowledge of, the multisport or endurance industries is beneficial.


Compensation and Benefits:
Full-time, salaried position located at National Office Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo.; salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package including 401K, health, vision and dental insurance.
