Qualified candidates will have the following: 

  • Bachelors degree required; Master degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years of work experience in Communications and/or PR, preferably with a sports or entertainment organization, and close exposure to media
  • Strong communications skills and writing experience is required.
  • Experience working at a media agency or within the communications industry for at least five years is preferred. 
  • Experience with charitable/community-related projects required; PGA TOUR charity knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the PGA TOUR, its business models, history and media relationships.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as main site producer of PGA TOUR’s charity website (together.pgatour.com).  In addition, identify stories and creative storytelling opportunities; produce own content; edit and publish other written/video/photo content via CMS platform; and coordinate shoots by PGATE.
  •      oAudit the current site and develop a plan for streamlining functions and/or bringing management in house (versus a           third-party vendor), as well as improve SEP and responsive design so content also works on mobile devices.
  •      oManage the site’s budget for content creation (e.g., PGATE shoots)
  •      oWork with Digital team to increase social media presence
  •      oServe as the internal advocate for charitable storylines, ensuring promotion/support across relevant internal channels.
  • Work with VP-Editorial Development and Senior Publicity Manager (NY) to develop and place community-themed media opportunities with entertainment/lifestyle/philanthropic outlets to generate compelling content that could resonate with potential new fans.
  • Work closely with Player Relations and Communications Department (and its revised Catalyst program) to identify, develop and advocate new charity storylines from players; develop proactive outreach/educational opportunities with players, wives and players’ managers as to how TAP can assist them in their fundraising efforts and charitable storytelling.
  • Work closely with Media Officials, TBA, TSAG and Corporate Marketing to identify, develop and advocate new charity stories among tournaments and sponsors, across all tours.
  • Liaise with Human Resources and Finance & Administration Departments, as well as applicable charitable organizations (i.e. Red Cross for hurricane relief efforts)., to properly respond to natural disasters, causes, etc., that require TOUR/player support; develop internal/external communications plans for these events as they occur.
  • Design and execute reports that regularly track coverage of the community- and charity-themed stories against the TOUR’s four key fan segments.  Share reports with internal constituents, such as Executive Team for potential use in Board Reports and Player Relations.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the TOUR at key charitable events, conferences and select media opportunities that ultimately further awareness of our charitable initiatives, and those of our players.
  • As needed, develop and provide key talking points for TOUR Executives and other spokespeople relative to the TOUR’s charitable initiatives and key messaging.
  • Design holiday eCard; work with creative services to create content/copy; post on the TAP site; distribute internally to all PGA TOUR Staff.
  • Some travel is expected for editorial meetings, conference/speaking engagements and on-site creative meetings/planning sessions with players/managers.
