Qualified candidates will have the following: 

  • Minimum of B.A. degree
  • Minimum two years of work experience in Communications and/or PR, preferably with a sports or entertainment organization, and close exposure to media
  • Prior experience at golf tournament or sport event and solid understanding of the game and industry
  • Strong communication skills including public speaking and the ability to communicate effectively within diverse groups of people in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail and proficient in AP style
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to balance office work with travel among both individual and team-oriented tasks
  • Proficient with MS Office Software, organizational documents and charts, and social media applications
  • Above all things, the ability to conduct self in a professional manner

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for statistical inquiries and research projects for the department and is the Communications Department main contact for phone calls and emails in regard to statistical or research inquiries
  • Maintain tournament summaries and records weekly for print and electronic media guide; produce weekly statistical analysis and notes for media use; Significant editing role for media guide production
  • Implement “PGA TOUR First” initiatives to foster player support of items such as the FedExCup, the Presidents Cup and sponsors
  • Create and implement “Featured Grouping Program” to promote Thursday-Friday consumption of the PGA TOUR
  • Perform advance and onsite media official duties at 12 PGA TOUR tournaments (lead in 2-3) managing PR/media plan while serving as a liaison between players and media
  • Support the Communications Department by managing reports including weekly finish chart, weekly winner’s report, clippings schedule and tracking “PR” wins for Senior Management, board reports, etc.
  • Hone local market, non-traditional and national media contacts to provide opportunities for PGA TOUR winners on a weekly basis
  • Organize tournament messaging calls 6 weeks out for representatives from TSAG, TBA, and Communications Department
  • Ownership of certain TOUR players, tasked with pitching and promoting those players beyond sports
  • Content creation for PGA TOUR platforms and special projects as assigned
  • Develop relationships with PGA TOUR staff, players, agents, media and others
