Northwell Health Signs Founding Sponsorship With Isles, UBS Arena

Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider in N.Y., has agreed to a 10-year founding sponsorship deal with the Islanders and UBS Arena, which is scheduled to open for the ‘21-22 NHL season at Belmont Park on Long Island. Northwell has an existing partnership with the Islanders and serves as title sponsor for the team’s East Meadow practice facility. A component of the agreement includes Northwell Health, UBS Arena and the Islanders developing community-based wellness programming, focused on health, nutrition and physical activity. Specific details about those programs are still in the works but they will generally involve officials from Northwell Health and the Islanders working with local schools and other community organizations to promote wellness programs, Northwell CEO Michael Dowling told THE DAILY. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Oak View Group CEO Tim Leiweke, whose company is developing the arena, said, “Northwell Health and Michael (Dowling) for over 20 years been involved in the New York Islanders family. Having this relationship now at another level will be so helpful -- not only for the sponsorship in the arena, but for the holistic programs that we enjoy with Northwell, whose name is also on our practice facility.”  He added, “There will be a massive multimillion dollar community outreach and a community foundation that will be created when with Northwell, the Islanders and UBS Arena, and we will generate millions and millions of dollars that will be dedicated towards the wellness and the health of our community and kids in particular.”
