Chiefs Partner With Tappit To Allow Payment Through Cell Phones

Tappit, a U.K.-based mobile payments company, has signed it first NFL deal with the Chiefs. Tappit will provide white label payment technology for the team's mobile app that will allow fans at Arrowhead Stadium to make purchases through their cell phones. Guests can link their bank, credit card and other payment programs like Google or Apple Pay to the Chiefs’ application, which will also offer fans incentives and loyalty points for mobile purchases. Tappit has begun integrating its technology into the Chiefs' app. Software updates to Arrowhead Stadium’s point-of-sale locations will be completed in the coming weeks. Tappit CRO for North America Meka White-Morris declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal with the Chiefs but did note it was a multiyear agreement.

The Chiefs still plan on accepting cash at Arrowhead Stadium, but White-Morris said Tappit expects fans to take to mobile payments on a large scale. White-Morris: "It will be interesting to see what the adoption rates are in a post-COVID world, as fans are looking to limit their risk.” Tappit plans on announcing deals with other U.S.-based teams and venues in the coming weeks.
