DAZN Doubles Number Of Streamed Hours In '19

DAZN nearly doubled the number of hours that its global subscriber base streamed in '19, with 507 million hours streamed (+ 98%), the company reported this morning. This marks the first time that DAZN released usage numbers for its service. While it did not provide numbers for specific events -- and unlike TV ratings, its numbers are not verified by a third party -- the information provides a snapshot on what programming is working for the service.

DAZN produced 107 events that eclipsed the 1 million-stream mark, which the company says includes live and on-demand streams of more than one minute. Boxing and soccer matches make up the streaming service’s top 10 in '19, led by last month’s rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. Soccer was the most popular sport globally, with 314.6 million hours of streams, followed by baseball (38.1 million hours), motorsports (37.9 million hours), American football (37.2 million hours) and boxing (22.6 million hours). Most DAZN users watched events via mobile (26%), followed by set-top box/streaming stick (23%), smart TV (21%), desktop (17%) and game console (13%).
