Do-it-all Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had another standout performance on “Monday Night Football,” throwing five touchdown passes in a 45-6 blowout of the Rams in Los Angeles. Jackson is a strong candidate for NFL MVP, but his status as a marketing and branding free agent means he can expect to clean up this offseason.

Sad state

Despite the school reducing capacity by 3,000 seats to 20,545, Kentucky fans are still not coming close to packing Rupp Arena. The announced attendance for games against Evansville (a stunning loss by the top-ranked Wildcats) and Utah Valley State was 19,101 and 18,859, respectively, but the turnstile count was actually 12,157 and 12,057.

The NBA is weighing major changes for the 2021-22 season: reseeding the final four teams in the playoffs by regular-season record, regardless of conference affiliation; a midseason tournament; and play-in games for the last two playoff spots. Credit for out-of-the-box thinking, but these changes won’t completely fix issues about the length of the regular season and load management.
