Atlanta United adds link to Scottish club

Atlanta United is expanding its reach globally as parent company AMB Sports and Entertainment has acquired a minority stake in Scottish soccer club Aberdeen FC.

AMBSE is owned by AMB Group, the investment management arm of Arthur Blank’s for-profit businesses. The Home Depot co-founder will have less than 10% ownership in the club after paying approximately $2.57 million. The investment is a part of a multi-faceted partnership with Aberdeen, which includes providing a development pipeline between the two teams.

The deal allows United to expand its scouting network while sharing knowledge with Aberdeen on fan experience and other ways of engagement. United President Darren Eales will join Aberdeen’s board of directors in the agreement. AMBSE, though, won’t have operational involvement or day-to-day responsibilities with Aberdeen.

United’s latest deal was announced almost a month after partnering with Italian club Juventus.
