The Endeavor Streaming Sports Media & Technology conference on Nov. 12 and 13 in California featured discussions ranging from the future of the RSN business to how the use of data and analytics is changing the way sponsors and properties engage.

Data is ‘everything’

Premier Lacrosse League co-founder Paul Rabil explained that the PLL is “player and fan focused, but data driven.” Joining him on the panel were SBJ editor and moderator Austin Karp; Kraft Analytics Group CEO Jessica Gelman; Zaileen Janmohamed, U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Properties head of partnership development and innovation; and Endeavor Analytics SVP Zack Rose.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment SVP Zach Leonsis, SNY President Steve Raab and Lindsay Amstutz, SVP of FS West/San Diego/Prime Ticket, discussed how gambling-related data, next-gen stats and unique content will affect the future of RSNs.

Big hit for ‘Smackdown’

In a panel discussion with SBJ Publisher and Executive Editor Abe Madkour, WWE Co-President Michelle Wilson and Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks agreed that both parties have benefited with the new time slot for “Friday Night Smackdown.”

NBC Sports Group President Pete Bevacqua expressed confidence that the Tokyo Games will see a viewership boost from its positioning between the two political conventions next summer.
Unanimous Media co-founder Jeron Smith detailed how lessons he learned at Nike and the White House have informed his decisions while running Stephen Curry’s media company.
Techstars Sports Accelerator Managing Director Jordan Fliegel described the benefits of his company’s early-stage investments.
