Cherry picked

Don Cherry, 85, was fired from his longtime role as a commentator for Sportsnet’s popular “Hockey Night in Canada” for making offensive comments about immigrants, some of whom he said were not sufficiently patriotic. Cherry has been a controversial figure for years, and his departure was seen as long overdue by several Canadian observers.
