As one of the gambling industry’s more outspoken critics of the push to include royalties and data mandates in legislation, Asher often found himself sparring with sports executives about the shape U.S. sports betting regulation would take. But now that there’s business to be done, he has proved to be a willing negotiator, striking deals with teams, leagues and regional sports networks. Otterman heads an impressive set of hires Asher made last year as he beefed up senior management to prepare for a national expansion. Based in New York, she joined the sportsbook after stints as chief marketing officer at the Madison Square Garden Company and NBC News and vice president of marketing at ESPN.
