Colleges

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock named BOB DENMAN interim athletic director. Denham is vice chancellor emeritus of university advancement at the school.

Appalachian State University promoted JOHN WELCH to associate athletic director for internal operations. Welch was assistant athletic director for internal operations and event management.

The University of Idaho named TERRY GAWLIK athletic director. Gawlik was senior associate athletic director for sports administration and senior women’s administrator at the University of Wisconsin.

Learfield IMG College named MIKE GORDON general manager of Northwestern Sports Properties. Gordon was president of business operations for the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves.

Longwood University promoted RICK CANTER to senior associate athletic director of administration. Canter was associate athletic director for student-athlete enhancement.

Loyola Marymount University named ASHLEY ARMSTRONG its first deputy athletic director, serving as chief operating officer and senior woman administrator. Armstrong was associate athletic director of sports and administration at UCLA.

The University of North Texas named MATT CARABAJAL senior associate athletic director for ticket sales and operations. Carabajal was senior director of ticket operations and service at Ohio State.

The University of Rhode Island named BRITTNEY MILES associate director for internal operations.

Temple University named KEVIN COPP associate athletic director of video production. Copp was assistant executive director of digital content and communications for the Ivy League.

The University of Texas-El Paso promoted NICK POPPLEWELL to senior associate athletic director for development and external relations. Popplewell was associate athletic director for development.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley named CHASSE CONQUE vice president and athletic director. Conque was vice chancellor and athletic director at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Wofford College reorganized its athletic department: ELIZABETH RABB is now deputy athletic director of external affairs and will continue the role of senior women’s administrator; LUKE FEISAL is assistant athletic director for development and revenue optimization; BRENT WILLIAMSON, associate athletic director for media relations, will take over responsibility for marketing and promotions; and SAM KEENAN was hired as director of compliance. Keenan was assistant director of compliance at Appalachian State.

Football

The XFL named LEN MEAD vice president of media partnerships. Mead was general manager of NBC Sports Northwest.

XFL Dallas named ROB CAROLLA head of communications. Carolla was president of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

XFL Seattle named MICHELLE DeLANCY senior director of marketing and PETE TENNEY director of content production and operations. DeLancy was general manager at ABC Creators, and Tenney was creative director for the NFL Players Association.

Media

ESPN and SEC Network named MATT AUSTIN an officiating analyst for college football. Austin retired this year after 15 years as a referee in the Southeastern Conference and four years in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Soccer

The Houston Dynamo and Dash named ROB HUR vice president of corporate partnership sales and marketing, MATT SHROLL director of business development and KEVIN ROSSELET partnership marketing manager. Hur was vice president of corporate partnerships at D.C. United, Shroll was director of inside sales with the Philadelphia Union, and Rosselet was director of athletic corporate sales and client services at Houston Baptist University.

Other

J.P. Morgan named IVO VOYNOV executive director for the Northeast group of the company’s corporate client banking and specialized industries division.

The Special Olympics named JASON TEITLER senior vice president of global communications and brand. Teitler was chairmain of fan experience, executive vice president and managing director in the brand solutions practice at Burson Cohn & Wolfe.

Awards and Boards

Steve Raab, president of SportsNet New York, was elected to the board of directors for KemperSports and KemperLesnik.
