MLB’s new All-Star voting format, in partnership with Google, debuted last week. Fans can choose from among one player per position per team in a “primary phase” that ends on June 21, and then again five days later during a “Starters Election” by choosing among the top three vote-getters at each spot.

Famous golf swing coach Hank Haney had to apologize after making insensitive comments during a radio show in which he said, among other things, “I’m gonna predict a Korean” to win the U.S. Women’s Open. LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan referred to Haney as a “clueless critic.”

The debate about adding more netting around the field at major league stadiums was renewed after the Chicago Cubs’ Albert Almora hit a line drive that struck a young fan during a game on May 29 at Houston’s Minute Maid Park. MLB extended the netting to the end of the dugouts at all 30 stadiums before the 2018 season.
