SBJ, SBD part of new Leaders group

Warren Thune named CEO; SBJ co-founder Whitney Shaw to be chairman of new entity

Advance and its subsidiary, American City Business Journals, have formed Leaders Group, a new operating company that will bring Advance’s sports, esports and gaming businesses under one umbrella and build on the foundation of Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily.

Also included in the group are Leaders, a global conference and content company; The Esports Observer; and Newzoo, a global provider of games and esports analytics.

Thune

Leaders Group named Warren Thune, Gartner Group president of SaaS and technology enabled services, CEO. He will work with the management and leadership teams at each of those entities to build their respective businesses. Thune spent 14 years in a series of executive roles at Gartner before his appointment at Leaders Group.

“This is an exciting opportunity to further enhance these industry leading companies and elevate our platform into the premier intelligence provider for global sports, esports and gaming professionals,” Thune said.

Whitney Shaw, American City Business Journals CEO and Sports Business Journal co-founder, was named chair of the newly established Leaders Group board of directors to which Thune will report.
