NBA owners voted to continue the jersey patch program indefinitely.

This move, which was not surprising, was made separately from the new international marketing efforts (see related story). The three-year test program started with the 2017-18 season.

Changes to the patch program include allowing teams to put the advertising on Nike authentic jerseys sold globally. Previously, teams could only sell the uniform with the patch in the U.S.

Another change allows a team’s patch partner to now have creative variations of their logo for different team uniform styles. For example, a brand could alter its patch on a throwback jersey or city edition uniforms used by teams throughout the season.
