Gen Z: Shawn Mattox

District manager, Delaware North Sportservice

Shawn Mattox leads food and beverage efforts at SunTrust Park, the Coca-Cola Roxy theater and The Battery Atlanta development next to the Braves’ home ballpark. He was previously Delaware North’s general manager at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

— As told to Mike Sunnucks

In terms of the overall experience, our data shows that Generation Z has an appetite for both local offerings and a substantial selection of healthy items. In Atlanta, for example, we have a local brewery — the Athens, Ga.-based Terrapin — with an outpost at SunTrust Park. It’s an experience that’s open year-round and features beers brewed in-house, specifically for the Braves. We also offer Atlanta’s Fox Bros. BBQ and have a mix of healthy, clean items.

With Generation Z born and raised in a technology-driven era, at the Delaware North-owned-and-operated TD Garden in Boston a cash-reduction effort is underway to help improve the guest experience — with 85 percent of transactions now made through credit cards or mobile payment. And we are working on implementing similar efforts at venues for our clients.
