Mike Tirico drew praise for his first attempt at broadcasting an NHL contest, when the 52-year-old called a Blackhawks-Red Wings game last week on NBCSN. Tirico had hosted NBC’s pregame coverage before. Doc Emrick will still be the lead play-by-play voice for the network.

Despite doing so for the men’s 2018 World Cup vote after various corruption scandals, FIFA will not make public the voting by 37 members for the host city of the 2023 Women’s World Cup. It’s a missed opportunity at transparency for an organization that could use more of that.
