Montag Group signs DeAngelo Hall for potential TV work

The Montag Group has signed veteran NFL free agent safety DeAngelo Hall for off-the-field work, including broadcasting.

TMG agents Sandy Montag and Gideon Cohen are representing him. Joel Segal, Lagardère Sports head of team sports and an NFL agent, represents him on the field.

“He is not officially retired,” Cohen said of Hall, who played last season for the Redskins. “He’s a free agent, I believe, and he is figuring out what he wants to do.”

Hall, who was taken with the No. 8 pick in the 2004 NFL draft by the Falcons, holds the record of being the youngest player ever to return an interception for a touchdown. He’s also played for the Raiders, is a three-time Pro Bowler and is tied for the record of most interceptions in one game with four.

Hall has done some broadcast work, including a stint on the NFL Network’s NFL draft combine coverage a few years ago, and both Cohen and Montag said they had noticed and were impressed by his on-air performance.

“We have seen him on the air before,” Montag said. “He’s a well-spoken player and we feel he has a lot of upside in the broadcast space.”

Hall reached out to Montag as they have mutual friends, including former NFL head coach Mike Shanahan. Shanahan is a TMG client and was head coach of the Redskins from 2010 to 2013. Hall has played 14 NFL seasons, with the Redskins since 2008.

Hall is open to being an in-studio or game analyst, Montag said. “We are talking to networks now and we are taking some meetings, and I think we are open to anything,” he said.

Networks start looking at talent for the next NFL season after the Super Bowl, Montag said.

“We are in a 60-day window now where everyone is getting evaluated,” he said. “I think generally by the draft most networks know who they are going to hire.”

CAA SIGNS NFL VETERANS: CAA Sports has signed several NFL veteran players for representation, including Raiders tight end Jared Cook and Bills left tackle Cordy Glenn.

CAA Sports also signed Titans defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, Jets linebacker Demario Davis and Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. Of the five players, Davis and Jones will be unrestricted free agents in March.

Agent Todd France is representing Jarrett, Jones and Glenn. Agents Tom Condon and Ben Renzin are representing Davis. Agents Tory Dandy and Jimmy Sexton are representing Cook.

Davis and Jones were previously represented by Sportstars. Jones was previously represented by SportsTrust Advisors.

Jarrett is on his fourth agency. Most recently, he was represented by Revolution Sports, but prior to that he was represented by Athletes First and Element Sports Group.

Cook previously was represented by NFL agent Christina Phillips, owner of Precision Sports Management Group.

“Jared is a great athlete,” Phillips said in an email. “He will make any team proud, and the Raiders are lucky to have him. Jared and I have had many great moments together that ranged from him being drafted to becoming one of the highest-paid tight ends in the National Football League, with negotiated contracts in excess of $55 million.”

Phillips wished Cook continued success.

ICM SIGNS SCOTT: ICM Partners has signed ESPN broadcaster and “SportsCenter” host Randy Scott for representation. ICM agents Corey D’Ambra, Courtny Catzel and Matt Sorger are representing him. He was previously without representation.
