People: Executive transactions

Colleges
The Colonial Athletic Association hired Shawn Murphy as associate commissioner for men’s basketball. Murphy was assistant commissioner for men’s basketball operations for the Big East Conference.

The University of Arkansas hired Derita Ratcliffe as senior associate athletic director. Ratcliffe was senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The University of Tennessee hired Reid Sigmon as executive associate athletic director and chief operating officer. Sigmon was chief financial officer for the College Football Playoff.

Texas Wesleyan University hired Ricky Dotson as associate athletic director.

Facilities
The Houston Dynamo, Houston Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium named Juan Rodriguez executive vice president and general manager for the facility. Rodriguez was senior vice president of arena operations for the Sacramento Kings.

Football
The Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Eskimos hired Brock Sunderland as general manager and vice president of football operations. Sunderland was assistant general manager for the Ottawa RedBlacks.

Golf
The Iowa Section of the PGA of America named Thomas Hutton executive director. Hutton was assistant executive director for the Middle Atlantic PGA Section.

Hockey
The Los Angeles Kings hired Lindsey Karlis as rink account executive for hockey development and Victoria Pizzuto as coordinator for the L.A. Lions girls’ hockey program and ball hockey.

The ECHL’s Worcester (Mass.) Railers promoted Tymmothy Dore to senior account executive for tickets and memberships, and hired Tom Matthews as public relations and social media coordinator and Katie Arsenault as marketing and game operations coordinator.

Law
Foley and Lardner named Kevin Schulz co-chairman and Jon Israel vice chairman of the firm’s sports industry team.

O’Melveny named Irwin Raij a partner in the firm’s entertainment, sports and media practice group and co-chair of the sports industry group. Raij is an owner of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Oklahoma City Dodgers and the expansion Los Angeles Football Club.

Marketing
The Aspire Group promoted Mark DeBoy to sales and service manager at Coastal Carolina University and Alec Hamm to manager of new business and group sales at the University of Maryland, and hired Jonathan Webster as sales consultant at the National Sales Center, Caleb Young as sales consultant at the University of South Florida, Aaron Kurz as team leader of new business at the University of Maryland, Alexandra Novak as manager of sales and service at Pepperdine University and Brian Bardsley as director of sales and service at the University of Denver.

Engine Shop founding partner and president Ed Kiernan is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.

Fenway Sports Management promoted Kate Hogan to director of consulting and events and Shelby Aubin to coordinator of consulting and events, and hired Mathew Bernstein as manager of digital strategy and partnership development and Courtney Reilly as manager of consulting and events.

Fox Run Group hired Joe Coady as an account manager of advertising and sponsorships for the Independence Visitor Center in Philadelphia. Coady was a property assistant at Temple Sports Properties at Temple University.

Learfield named J.J. Alberts general manager at Providence College. Alberts was vice president of activation and corporate partnerships for the Boston Celtics.

Octagon named Matthieu Fenaert executive director for Octagon Russia. Fenaert was co-managing director for Octagon Brazil.

Media
ESPN promoted Ilan Ben-Hanan to vice president of programming and scheduling, Pete Derzis to senior vice president of college sports programming and events, and John Papa to vice president of programming and acquisitions.

Fox Deportes hired Orlando Silver as vice president of production. Silver was with Univision Deportes Network.

Rogers Communications hired Joe Natale as president and chief executive officer. Natale was president and chief executive officer for Telus.

Whistle Sports hired J. LaLonde as vice president of content. LaLonde was an executive producer of original programming and development for Mashable Studios.

Multiteam Companies
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and Altitude Sports & Entertainment promoted Ben Boylan to KSE executive vice president of partnership marketing and media sales, and Ken Miller was promoted to Altitude executive vice president, general manager and executive producer.

Pacers Sports & Entertainment named Tamika Catchings director of player programs and franchise development.

Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment named Tina Suca vice president of industry relations and Andy Miller executive director of global partnerships. Suca was vice president of entertainment for ArenaNetwork, and Miller was director of national sales for NBC Olympics and Sports Ventures.

The New York Red Bulls hired Jayne Bussman-Wise as senior director of content and communications. Bussman-Wise was director of digital marketing for the New York City FC.

The North American Soccer League’s Jacksonville Armada FC promoted Marshall Happer to chief operating officer.

Tickets For Less hired Adam Tyhurst as chief financial officer. Tyhurst was director of finance for the Kansas City Royals.

Other
Sportradar parted ways with Chief Revenue Officer Tom Masterman and marketing and communications director Nick Stamm.

The World Surf League hired Beth Greve as chief revenue officer. Greve was a senior consultant to Jaunt VR.

Awards and Boards
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl Festival Association named Leigh Shockey president, Scott Barber chairman, Bill Kinkade vice president, Bill Giles secretary and Chris Moore treasurer.
