NFL agents the Katz brothers leave Rosenhaus Sports

NFL agents Michael Katz and Jason Katz have left Rosenhaus Sports and are expected to join CSE, according to multiple sources.

Katzes, who are brothers, did not return phone calls or texts. Drew Rosenhaus, owner and founder of Miami-based Rosenhaus Sports, declined to comment, as did CSE, through a spokesman.

Both Michael Katz and Jason Katz were involved in representing multiple players at Rosenhaus Sports, which represents more than 100 NFL players. Drew Rosenhaus represents all of the firm’s clients, and the other agents — who include his brother Jason Rosenhaus, Robert Bailey, LeRon McCoy and Ryan Matha — assist him in representing the players.

As in all cases involving agents leaving agencies, it is not clear which players, if any, will follow the Katzes. Players tend to stay with the agent with whom they have the closest relationship.

One of the firm’s clients, Chris Jones, a defensive tackle out of Mississippi State who was the second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in this year’s draft, terminated his contract with Drew Rosenhaus early last week. Michael Katz was involved in representing Jones, but it is not clear whether that termination is related to the brothers’ departure. Sources said Drew Rosenhaus was trying to re-sign Jones. NFL players must wait five days to sign with another agent, under NFL Players Association rules.

Atlanta-based CSE, founded by Lonnie Cooper, represents brands for consulting and other work, as well as basketball coaches, baseball players and broadcasters, but it has not had an NFL practice for years. Todd France, now CAA Football co-head, began his career there.
