Power Players: Design and Development

In our inaugural Power Players section, SportsBusiness Journal recognizes the leaders in facility design and construction. From architects and engineers to construction firms and owner’s reps, they bring dreams to reality and literally put the pieces together.

The editorial staff of SBJ selected the members of this talented team based on their influence in the industry, the scope of their work, and how they reimagine the live event experience. They total 50 people among 35 firms and stand out for their ability to form concepts for new buildings, rethink existing spaces, secure funding and public support, engineer complex design elements, and keep the work on schedule.

SBJ facilities writer Don Muret introduces you to the Power Players and provides the highlights of their work. Also, see what the Power Players describe as the toughest parts of their jobs, the challenges faced by the sports industry, and the trends they’re watching in design and construction. They also share a vision for the facility of the future. (Here’s a hint: It could be smaller and even portable.)
