Arris signs Wi-Fi deal across ISC racetrack portfolio

Telecommunications equipment company Arris this week is announcing that on top of its existing deal to outfit Daytona International Speedway’s wireless network, it will now work with Daytona owner International Speedway Corp. across its 12 NASCAR racetracks.

Arris, which came into the sport last year via primary sponsorship of Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Carl Edwards in the Sprint Cup Series and Daniel Suarez in the Xfinity Series, has been hard at work in recent months at Daytona, where it has installed carrier-class Wi-Fi in areas including suites, concourses, fan zones and point-of-sale displays.

That project will be ready for this weekend’s season-opening Daytona 500.

“ISC is looking to improve the fan experience in a meaningful way, and one of the things that has really been lacking at all tracks nationwide is the Wi-Fi experience,” said Pete Wagener, Arris’ senior vice president of sales operations, who added that Arris is in talks with other tracks that feature NASCAR races, too.
