Hawks extend with Point 3
Point 3 Basketball was named the exclusive outfitter for Atlanta Hawks Youth Programs as part of a multiyear extension. The programs represent more than 12,000 basketball players annually in the greater Atlanta area. Additionally, Point 3 adds exclusive rights to outfit the Jr. Hawks affiliate league program.

BAKERSFIELD, CALIF.

Oilers execs attend first Condors game
The AHL began its season Oct. 9 with the league having its first California division. The Bakersfield Californian reported that AHL President and CEO David Andrews and several executives from Oilers Entertainment Group attended the Grand Rapids Griffins-Bakersfield Condors game at Rabobank Arena. The Condors are the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

BALTIMORE
UA pushing Project Glory

Under Armour has begun touting its Project Glory initiative, an effort to have products made closer to the markets in which they’re sold, according to a Baltimore Sun report. The report quoted Under Armour’s Kevin Haley: “We’re starting in Baltimore.”

BOISE, IDAHO
Arena naming rights extended

CenturyLink’s naming-rights agreement for CenturyLink Arena was extended for an additional five years. CenturyLink will continue to serve as the exclusive communications provider for the facility and the ECHL Idaho Steelheads, as well as the adjacent Grove Hotel. The arena is also home to the NBA D-League Idaho Stampede.

BUFFALO
Eike Daddy burger on the menu

Buffalo Sabres rookie Jack Eichel is getting a hamburger named after him. Named the Eike Daddy, the burger’s ingredients include cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, guacamole and a fried egg. The burger was created by Delaware North Sportservice and will be available at First Niagara Center.

Aspire Group to assist CIAA

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and Urban Sports & Entertainment Group reached an agreement with The Aspire Group to provide strategic consulting, research, ticket marketing and sales support for the 2015 CIAA Football Championship (in Durham, N.C.) and the 2016 CIAA Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament (in Charlotte). The CIAA has its headquarters in Charlotte.

COLUMBUS
Jackets featured on pizza boxes

The Columbus Blue Jackets and the locally owned franchisee group for Papa John’s Pizza teamed up to deliver the first NHL team-themed pizza box in the company’s history. More than half a million Blue Jackets-branded boxes will be distributed in the Columbus market over the course of the 2015-16 season.

LVMS makes room for new hospitality

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is demolishing seat sections above Turns 3 and 4 to make room for a relocated high-end hospitality area and a new 25-space luxury RV section, according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal report. The new hospitality section, called Vegas Village, will offer a closer view of the 1.5-mile track and a panoramic view of the Las Vegas valley.

USATT finale at Brooklyn Bowl
The 2015 USA Table Tennis National Championships men’s and women’s final matches will be held Dec. 14-19 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. It is the first time that a sporting event will be held at the Brooklyn Bowl.

LINCOLN, NEB.
Suh to open Nike store

The Miami Dolphins’ Ndamukong Suh, a University of Nebraska alum, plans to open a Nike store in the school’s former Nebraska Bookstore space in downtown Lincoln, according to a (Lincoln) Journal Star report. The school’s board of regents approved a $1.25 million agreement with Suh’s company, TFL Development, to buy 17,000 to 19,000 square feet of space.

Fermata to manage UW licensing

The University of Wisconsin picked Atlanta-based Fermata Partners to be its licensing agency. Fermata, a division of CAA Sports, will manage a trademark licensing program that generates $60 million annually in retail sales. The school previously worked with CLC. UW becomes the sixth new school Fermata has signed in the last 15 months and comes after UW recently announced the transition of its equipment/apparel deal from Adidas to Under Armour.

Grizzlies sign Mid-South Ford Dealers

The Memphis Grizzlies agreed to a multiyear sponsorship deal with Mid-South Ford Dealers that will feature the co-branded “We Got Next!” youth educational empowerment scholarship program and naming rights to the team’s practice facility, newly dubbed the Built Ford Tough Training Facility. The “We Got Next!” initiative provides scholarships and mentors to high-potential, high-performing students from underserved communities.

MIAMI
Heat signs Sotheby’s

One Sotheby’s International Realty is now the Miami Heat’s official luxury real estate partner, according to a Miami Herald report. The local broker will advertise at the team’s AmericanAirlines Arena and support the Miami Heat Charitable Fund. It may also help Heat players find homes in South Florida.

Cricket tour begins at Citi Field

Three Major League Baseball venues will play host to an all-star cricket tour next month. Pepsi, State Farm and MasterCard have signed on as sponsors of the Cricket All-Star Series, scheduled for Citi Field on Nov. 7, Minute Maid Park on Nov. 11 and Dodger Stadium on Nov. 14. The series was created and is being staged by New York-based Leverage Agency. Pepsi will be the lead sponsor for the event at Citi Field.

PHILADELPHIA
Arena adds menu items, DraftServ

Comcast Spectacor and Aramark unveiled a variety of new food and beverage options — including a pour-your-own-beer section — that will greet Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers fans at Wells Fargo Center this season. Customers will be able to purchase and pour their own beer from DraftServ units at PJ Whelihan’s. In addition, Chick-fil-A, Lee’s Hoagie House, Old City Brewhouse, The Creamer and Dunkin’ Donuts will have stands in the concourse.

PRINCETON, N.J.
ECHL partners with Geico

The ECHL agreed to a multiyear partnership with auto insurance giant Geico. The company will be the official auto insurance of the league and will receive branding as the official goal sponsor for all 27 U.S.-based teams. Goal posts will be changed in color from the traditional red to Geico blue and adorned with the insurer’s logo.

Sharks extend with KUFX-FM

The San Jose Sharks and locally based KUFX-FM agreed to a multiyear extension. The station has been the Sharks’ radio network flagship since the 2000-01 NHL season.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
Handbid to handle Caps auctions

All Washington Capitals in-game memorabilia sales and auctions will now be held on Handbid, where bidders can enter bids remotely or locally, manage their bids with proxy bidding, and instantly view the status of all bids. Fans also will be able to use the mobile app during special events, including Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation’s Casino Night on Nov. 14.

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
Warriors, SkyCity add two years

Entertainment complex SkyCity Auckland and National Rugby League club Vodafone Warriors extended their partnership for another two years. The resort’s name will be featured on the lower back of the club’s jersey.

ESPN, MSM partner for India digital platforms

     Multi Screen Media and ESPN agreed to a long-term deal to serve sports fans in India and across the Indian subcontinent. The collaboration aims to bring a slate of new offerings to Indian sports fans, including a localized multisport website and app. Coverage plans would include cricket, football, tennis, the NBA, badminton and field hockey, with the ESPN Cricinfo site complementing and cross-promoting the new properties.
     In addition, MSM’s Sony Kix sports channel will be rebranded Sony ESPN, and the two companies will launch other channels in the coming months.


DARMSTADT, GERMANY
Team to modernize stadium

Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 is planning a $37 million modernization of its stadium, with the renovation slated to be completed by the end of 2018, according to an Inside World Football report. The upgrade will expand the match-day capacity of the 94-year-old Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor to 19,000.

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
Team extends Mitsubishi deal

Mitsubishi extended its sponsorship of Edinburgh Rugby for another year, according to a (Scotland) Daily Record report. The team will get five vehicles from a local dealer and, in return, the Mitsubishi three-diamond logo will appear on the club’s shirts.

GOSFORD, AUSTRALIA
Mariners sign tech sponsor

A-League club Central Coast Mariners signed a deal with independent enterprise search and analytics company Search Technologies. The firm’s logo will appear on the back of the team’s home kit for the 2015-16 season. Search Technologies is based in Washington, D.C.

Olympics cost pegged at $12.6B

Hamburg Mayor Olaf Scholz said that staging the Olympics in Hamburg would cost $12.6 billion if the city is elected host for the 2024 Summer Games, according to a DPA report. The figure covers infrastructure as well as the actual Games budget.

Emirates renews with team
Bundesliga club Hamburg SV renewed its shirt sponsorship with Emirates until 2019, according to a DPA report. The airline has been the club’s shirt sponsor since 2006. Hamburg also renewed its kit deal with Adidas through 2023-24.

Singha boosts Leicester City support

Singha Corp. increased its support to Thai-owned EPL club Leicester City to $6.98 million in a new three-year contract, according to a Bangkok Post report. Singha is also a partner with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League.

Man U dealing with New Era

Manchester United reached a multiyear deal with apparel brand New Era, which will produce dual-branded headwear. Products will include caps, baseball caps, visors, bobble hats and beanies.

RIO DE JANEIRO
Equestrian events in question

Brazilian Equestrian Confederation President Luiz Roberto Giugni warned that the equestrian events for next year’s Olympics might have to take place outside Brazil, according to an AP report. Giugni blasted the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry for delays in issuing the documentation needed to allow horses brought into Brazil from Europe, the United States and Canada to enter and leave the country.

ROME
Lazio taps Renault as premium sponsor

Serie A club Lazio named Renault a premium sponsor, according to a SoccerEx report. The French car company’s Rome dealership has provided the Italian club with three vehicles to use throughout the 2015-16 season.
