ori Warren wears many hats in her role with the San Antonio Spurs, but in the past year she’s been putting on her hard hat. She is leading a $100 million renovation of the AT&T Center, the Spurs’ 18,581-seat home arena, which opened in 2002.

In running point on the project, Warren has been working with officials from Bexar County, which owns the facility, and with Hunt Construction Group, which was contracted for the work. The team has been planning the project for two years, but construction began in earnest this past summer and is scheduled to be finished before the new NBA season opens in late October.

“I have been in charge of the design and now the construction, and coordinating the pieces of the puzzle is what I spend most of my time on,” Warren said. “But we really have a capable team around us.”

Tackling the renovation project, which will add bars and restaurants, new seats and a new scoreboard to the facility, is the latest in a long list of challenges and accomplishments for Warren, who joined the Spurs in 1994 and now runs all the financial operations for the team along with elements of strategic planning. Though she’s responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the Spurs, Warren, a former auditor for KPMG, said a return on investment from the arena renovation is a secondary objective.

“When we started talking about what we wanted, we decided that fan experience was our No. 1 objective,” she said. “It wasn’t necessarily a return on the investment. It was important to touch every level of the building with something for everyone.”
