BUFFALO
Yancey’s aligns with Pegula properties

Yancey’s Fancy has become the first company to simultaneously partner with every sports property under the Pegula Sports and Entertainment umbrella. That means the artisan cheese manufacturer will have a marketing relationship with the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits, HarborCenter and the Rochester Americans. Yancey’s, based east of Buffalo in Corfu, N.Y., has been in business for more than 70 years.

Hurley bid money staying at UB
The University at Buffalo raised $1.25 million from private donors in an ultimately failed bid to keep basketball coach Bobby Hurley before he exited for Arizona State. UB Athletic Director Danny White said the money raised, with commitments over a five-year period, will remain with the program.

CLYMER, N.Y.
Web.com event returning

The Web.com Tour will be returning to Peek’n Peak Resort in southwestern New York state in 2016 under a four-year agreement. Erie, Pa.-based LECOM Health (Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine) will be the title sponsor. Peek’n Peak held a Web.com Tour event from 2002-07.

OSU planning $67M in facility projects

Three major athletic facilities projects are in the works for Ohio State University at a cost of more than $67 million, according to a (Cleveland) Plain Dealer report. One of the projects is a new $30 million home for Olympic sports at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Athletic Director Gene Smith said that OSU has raised more than $20 million for the center and hopes to break ground in 2016.

Urban Meyer trademarks issued
Ohio State University secured trademark designation for the name of football coach Urban Meyer, according to a Columbus Dispatch report. Half of the royalties in those cases will go to Ohio State and the other half to Meyer. Trademarks were issued for “Urban Meyer” and the phrase “Urban Meyer Knows.”

Gators go RVing with Lazydays

RV dealer Lazydays reached a three-year branding agreement with the University of Florida. IMG brokered the deal, which includes Lazydays branding at all five RV lots around the campus and on UF social media accounts, broadcast stations and websites.

HOUSTON
Astros ticket prices rising

The Houston Astros will raise season-ticket prices in 2016 for current and new season-ticket holders, according to a Houston Chronicle report. In the top nonpremium category, prices will climb to $75 per game, up from $66, for new season-ticket customers. A team spokesperson said that prices will increase on average by less than 10 percent for current season-ticket holders.

Jersey sales limited to Nos. 1, 15

The University of Nebraska is limiting the numbers on the jerseys fans can buy, as only No. 1 and No. 15 will be available, according to a Lincoln Journal Star report. Licensees selling Nebraska jerseys are limited to the same numbers. The policy change is for all sports that have jersey replicas for sale.

Kosher food stand opens

The Los Angeles Dodgers opened a food stand with three types of Kosher hot dogs. The stand in the right-field plaza will be open at home games, except Fridays and Saturdays and Jewish holidays. The Dodgers also will celebrate their 16th annual Jewish Community Night on Aug. 30 when they play host to the Chicago Cubs. A special ticket package includes a voucher for a Dodgers-in-Hebrew T-shirt.

Dolphins seek fan input for “50th”

A hallmark throwback uniform will be part of the Miami Dolphins’ 50th season celebration, and fan voting is open for the team’s top 50 players. The uniform and the top 50 will be an integral part of the 50th Season Homecoming festivities on Dec. 14 when the Dolphins play host to the New York Giants.

Dolphins update cycling challenge
The Dolphins Cycling Challenge changed its name to the Dolphins Cancer Challenge. The

updated name reflects the goals and additional events created to fight cancer, starting with two Fall Family Fests in November and culminating with DCC VI, a tri-county bike ride and run/walk event, scheduled for Feb. 20.

Century 21 features home at homestand

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans reached a new partnership with Century 21 Broadhurst, the title sponsor of the Homestand House Highlight, to showcase their premier properties in the market. At each homestand the Pelicans will showcase a property with a detailed video.

MLS stadium capacity swells
New designs for Orlando City SC’s planned downtown venue show that capacity has increased from an original plan of 19,500 seats to 25,500, according to an Orlando Sentinel report. The club revealed a new design for a privately funded stadium and aims to move into its new home in September 2016.

PHILADELPHIA
Sixers, Virtua plan youth clinic

The Philadelphia 76ers and corporate partner Virtua Health unveiled plans for their first Camden, N.J., youth basketball clinic. The three-day clinic for 800 to 900 children, ages 10 to 14, will be held Aug. 23-25 at the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. Future events will be held at the Sixers’ Camden training complex, which the team expects to be completed by next summer.

Penguins sign Tire Pros

The Pittsburgh Penguins entered into a two-year agreement with Tire Pros. The partnership includes proud partner status, logo rights, LED camera-visible signage, print, hospitality and Web advertising.

Lieberman joining Kings’ huddle
The Sacramento Kings hired basketball hall of famer Nancy Lieberman as an assistant coach. Lieberman’s career includes a stint as D-League Texas Legends head coach from 2009-11. She becomes the second full-time female assistant coach in the NBA behind San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon.

Lowe’s livens Panthers camp

The Carolina Panthers brought their “stadium in a park” vision to training camp at Wofford College, according to a Charlotte Observer report. There is a tiered seating area and freshly planted flowers and shrubs like those found outside Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The beautification efforts are the result of a partnership between the team and Lowe’s Home Improvement.

ST. LOUIS
Judge rules no public vote needed

St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Thomas Frawley declared invalid the city ordinance requiring a public vote on the use of city tax dollars to help finance a new St. Louis Rams stadium, according to multiple reports. The ruling represents another step toward a new stadium, now expected to cost $998 million.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
Nationals add family lounge

The Washington Nationals teamed up with Lansinoh Laboratories to create the Lansinoh Family Lounge at Nationals Park. The lounge located off the first-base line includes chairs for nursing mothers, TVs, diaper changing stations and a play area for toddlers.

Populous to design MLS stadium
Populous, which designed Nationals Park, will also design the D.C. United stadium after the team signed the firm in late July, according to a Washington Post report. The firm was considered a likely choice because of its work on behalf of the team a year ago, when Populous produced renderings of a possible stadium on Buzzard Point for the team to use in marketing materials.

NBA signs Marriott deal
for international
events

   The NBA signed a sponsorship deal with Marriott that makes the company the official hotel of several international NBA events throughout the 2015-16 season. The deal began Aug. 1 in Johannesburg for the NBA Africa Game and also includes the NBA Canada Series that features four preseason games held in October throughout the country.
   It also includes the NBA Global Games, with preseason games in October in Brazil, China, Italy and Spain. Financial terms of the one-year deal were not disclosed, but it gives Marriott Rewards members access to NBA games and events in the international markets along with meet-and-greet events with NBA legends and players.

Team partners with Audi

Bundesliga club FC Augsburg agreed to a partnership deal with automaker Audi. The agreement will run for an initial three years until 2018.

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND
2020 Youth Olympics awarded

Lausanne, the Swiss city where the International Olympic Committee is based, was chosen to host the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics. Lausanne won a secret ballot of IOC members at a convention center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, beating the only other candidate, Brasov, Romania.

IOC alters bid process
Cities considering bidding for the Olympics in the future can expect an easier procedure after the IOC overhauled the two-year process, according to a Reuters report. After the withdrawal of four out of six cities from the 2022 bid process, the IOC opted to allow cities to submit their bid books in three parts.

Leeds dresses up with B&B

Berwin & Berwin was appointed as League Championship side Leeds United’s official suit partner. Berwin & Berwin will provide match-day suits to the first team squad, management and club officials.

Mondogoal gets Tottenham exposure

Global fantasy sports platform developer Mondogoal added Tottenham as its latest team partner. The Mondogoal platform will be promoted across Tottenham’s digital channels, including a website with 1.5 million unique users per month.

MILAN
Taechaubol acquires 48 percent stake

AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi officially signed a contract to sell 48 percent of the club to Bee Taechaubol, according to a Football Italia report. Berlusconi will remain AC Milan’s president and his company, Fininvest, announced on Aug. 2 that the deal is worth $527 million and the date set for closing is Sept. 30.

Italian tourism region adds hoops

Basketball Bundesliga club Bayern Munich signed a partnership with Italian tourism region Garda Trentino, according to a SoccerEx report. The deal will run until the end of the 2016-17 season. The tourism region has been a partner of the club’s football department since 2009.

OLYMPIA, GREECE
Torch to be lit April 21

The Rio de Janeiro Olympic torch will be lit in Greece’s ancient Olympia on April 21 before leaving for Brazil 12 days later, according to a Reuters report. The torch will arrive in Brazil on May 3 to start its 100-day relay across the country.

IOC approves South Sudan

South Sudan will compete at Rio 2016 after becoming the 206th member of the Olympic movement, according to a BBC report. The IOC unanimously approved the inclusion of the African republic, which became independent in 2011.

SOFIA, BULGARIA
CSKA Sofia to wear Lotto

Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia signed a contract with Italian sportswear company Lotto, according to an Inside World Football report. The three-year deal provides CSKA with apparel and equipment and the club will receive 20 percent from the sale of kits and merchandise.

SYDNEY
England Netball signs principal sponsor

England Netball announced health and life insurer Vitality as its new principal sponsor. Vitality will be the long-term principal sponsor of the England Netball team. Vitality branding will be featured on the England team kit as it competes at the Netball World Cup in Sydney, which concludes Sunday.
