In The Office: Jeff Knapple, Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment

Chairman and CEO Richard Schaps’ collection of modern art adorns many of the walls at the Van Wagner Group’s New York City headquarters. Inside the office of Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment President  and CEO Jeff Knapple on the 27th floor is evidence of all the deals, including dozens of arena and stadium naming-rights contracts, that the former NFL, USFL and CFL quarterback has helped orchestrate during 30-plus years in the off-field side of sports.

“The Super Bowl XLVIII ball is bittersweet, because I was involved with the naming rights for MetLife, but my team [the Denver Broncos, for which he played in 1980] laid one of the biggest eggs in Super Bowl history,” he said.

“We want to show all of our sides, so there’s stuff here from a lot of teams we work with, awards for our in-game production arm work, and some non-sports stuff like a signed photo of [former Beatles producer] George Martin, from a documentary project we’re doing with him. That’s the ‘E’ in VWS&E.”
