Braves buying neighboring parcel

The Atlanta Braves will buy the 9.5-acre parcel that houses the headquarters of Genuine Parts Co., which neighbors SunTrust Park and the Braves’ mixed-use development site. The team also signed a long-term partnership extension with Napa Auto Parts. The multiyear agreement will include activation at both Turner Field and SunTrust Park.

AUSTIN
Spurs bring the pain (relief)

The Austin Spurs partnered with Central Texas Pain Center. The deal includes placement of the pain relief specialist’s logo on the team’s jersey. The logo will be visible on the back of both the home and road Spurs jerseys, below the shoulders and above the numbers.

BOSTON
Athlete database calls Boston home

Beat Your Mark, a database connecting runners and triathletes over a social media-based e-commerce platform, established its international headquarters in Boston. Beat Your Mark enables users to create individual profiles and search for race information and results from its database of more than 14,000 races and 15,000,000 race results worldwide.

Symetra Tour fills out tourney schedule
The Symetra Tour added a new tournament to the 2015 schedule: the Tullymore Classic at Tullymore Golf Resort in Canadian Lakes, Mich., June 29 through July 5. The Tullymore Classic is the fourth new event added to the 2015 schedule. Other new stops on the women’s golf tour are Sioux Falls, S.D.; Rochester, N.Y.; and El Dorado, Ark.

Union to train at Phillies’ home

The Philadelphia Union reached a multiyear deal with the city of Clearwater to hold training camp at its Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex. The complex is across the street from the Bright House Field facilities where the Philadelphia Phillies hold spring training. The Union will hold its preseason in February.

COLUMBUS
Jackets partner with White Castle

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus-based White Castle reached a new multiyear partnership. The primary component is the Blue Jackets Craver Captures program. The in-market promotion encourages fans to share their Blue Jackets and/or White Castle photos on Twitter or Instagram using hashtag #CBJCrave.

Broncos lend help to CSU program

The Denver Broncos and Colorado State University are teaming up to create the Denver Broncos Sports Management Institute. The program will make its debut in Fort Collins this spring by offering three courses to select CSU undergraduate students. The classes will count toward a newly developed minor in sports management, pending faculty council approval.

HAGERSTOWN, MD.
Suns seeking stadium naming rights

Efforts to sell naming rights to Municipal Stadium for the 2015 season are in full swing. The naming-rights sponsorship would be the first of its kind for Municipal Stadium and the Hagerstown Suns. The Suns, Class A affiliates of the Washington Nationals, are celebrating their 35th anniversary season in 2015.

New video board instrumental for Sounds
TS Sports is working with Panasonic to install a guitar-shaped HD video board for the Nashville Sounds. The board will be at First Tennessee Park, the new stadium where the Sounds will move for the 2015 season after 35 years at Herschel Greer Stadium. The Sounds are the Class AAA affiliate of the Oakland A’s.

NEWARK
Devils partner with Chilean winemaker

The New Jersey Devils have a new partnership with Casillero del Diablo, a range of Chilean wines, to make the beverage the official wine of the team. The partnership will include multiple wine tasting events with Devils alumni at Prudential Center and in the Newark area, as well as a “Skate and Taste VIP Experience” sweepstakes.

ORLANDO
Apple Pay available at Amway Center

The Orlando Magic, Chase and E15 Group, the technology and analytics subsidiary of Levy Restaurants, are integrating Apple Pay into the Amway Center. The Magic becomes the first team in the NBA to offer fans access to Apple Pay. The option will be available at several concession and retail locations.

Pens extend with Rivers Casino
The Pittsburgh Penguins extended their partnership with Rivers Casino. The agreement includes camera-visible signage, print advertising, digital signage, radio, hospitality, presenting sponsorship of the second period and a video board feature called “2nd Period Lucky 7’s.”

New bar gets Jim Beam treatment
The Penguins created a new destination on Consol Energy Center’s main concourse by partnering with Jim Beam to brand a recently built bar as the Jim Beam Bourbon Rackhouse. The Jim Beam promotional team will conduct samplings throughout the season.

Padres going big with new display system
The San Diego Padres selected Daktronics to provide a new LED video display system for Petco Park that will include the third-largest video display in MLB. The new display, nearly five times the size of the current one, will tower over left field and will measure about 61 feet high by 123 feet wide, covering more than 7,500 square feet.

Caps, Wizards sign medical partner

Monumental Sports & Entertainment named MedStar Health as the official medical team partner of the Washington Capitals and Wizards. It will also serve as the official sports medicine team physicians.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.
Track to receive state funding

New York state will help finance a modernization effort, including repaving, at Watkins Glen International. The track announced it will receive $2.25 million from the state as part of an overall $12 million upgrade ahead of the 2015 racing season.

World Cup builders’ death toll revealed

Nepalese migrants building the infrastructure to host the 2022 World Cup died at a rate of one every two days in 2014, according to a (London) Guardian report. The figure excludes deaths of Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi workers, raising fears that if fatalities among all migrants were taken into account the toll would almost certainly be more than one a day.

Musicians finding lucrative work
Qatar has spent nearly $5 million hiring around 60 British professional musicians to help train Qatari military bandsmen in time to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup, according to an Arabian Business report. Contracts are reportedly for three years, with salary packages offering free accommodations and wages of up to $102,700 per year.

West Ham to sell 20 percent of club
West Ham United F.C. co-owner David Sullivan said that the club is trying to raise $128 million to clear some of its debt by selling 20 percent of the club, according to a Reuters report. Sullivan said that West Ham would be worth $622 million when it moves to London’s Olympic Stadium in 2016.

Giants to wear Under Armour

The Yomiuri Giants will be outfitted by Under Armour this year under a new agreement, according to a Baltimore Sun report. The multiyear apparel and accessories partnership was announced in Tokyo by the team and Dome Corp., which is licensed to sell the Under Armour products in Japan.
