CHANGE FROM 2013: NEWCOMER

No entity had a bigger impact on sports this year than TMZ. Like it or not, the effect that TMZ’s news coverage had with its Ray Rice and Donald Sterling stories was Watergate-esque for the sports business world. Neither of those scandals reaches the degree that it did — if they even become anything more than business as usual — without Levin’s TMZ releasing the Rice video and the Sterling recording. Quite simply, TMZ has the entire sports world on the defensive.
