NBA Commissioner Adam Silver tapped the well-regarded Tatum to serve as deputy commissioner in late January, giving more influence to one of the few non-attorneys among top league executives. Since taking the job, Tatum is aggressively overhauling the NBA’s marketing efforts and redefines the deputy commissioner role with a deep sales focus.
