Baseball
The San Diego Padres named Randy Smith senior adviser for baseball operations.

The Tampa Bay Rays promoted both Chaim Bloom and Erik Neander to vice president of baseball operations.

Basketball
The Philadelphia 76ers promoted James McAuliffe to account executive.

The Indiana Pacers promoted Gary Nelson to vice president of merchandise and sales.

College
Simon Fraser University named Steve Frost athletic department communications head. Frost was an internal communications consultant for McDonald’s Canada.

Warren Koegel will retire as athletic director for Jacksonville State University Dec. 31.

Miami University of Ohio promoted Ellie Witter to director of promotions and fan engagement.

Graceland University named Joe Worlund athletic director. Worlund was associate athletic director at Washington University in St. Louis.

Washington University in St. Louis named Chris Peacock deputy athletic director. Peacock was assistant athletic director for development at the University of Illinois.

The University of Cincinnati promoted Karen Hatcher to executive senior associate athletic director for external affairs and gave Chief Financial Officer Omar Banks the additional title of executive senior associate athletic director for internal affairs.

Oregon State University named Dan Van De Riet associate athletic director for football operations.

Facilities
Global Spectrum promoted Jacquelyn Holowaty to vice president of ticketing.

Watkins Glen International promoted Montana McDonald to manager of business partnerships.

Football
USA Football named former NFL player Deron Cherry; Woodie Dixon, Pac-12 general counsel and senior vice president; and Michael Strickland, ACC senior associate commissioner of football, to its board of directors.

The San Francisco 49ers hired Mika Lewis as manager of partnership services.

The New Orleans VooDoo hired Brandon Rizzuto as general manager. Rizzuto was assistant athletic director for the University of New Orleans.

Golf
The R&A named Martin Slumbers chief executive officer and secretary, effective Oct. 1. Slumbers replaces Peter Dawson, who will retire in September.

One Thought Golf promoted Daniel Robertson to director of marketing and broadcast.

Hockey
The Washington Capitals named Tim Barnes analytics consultant.

The NHL named Chris Pronger to its player safety department.

The Toronto Maple Leafs named Mark Hunter director of player personnel.

Rick Pracey stepped down as Colorado Avalanche director of amateur scouting.

Marketing
Dow Chemical Co. named Louis Vega vice president of Olympic operations in addition to his existing title as chief of staff and global director for the office of the chairman and chief executive officer and executive communications. Vega assumed the responsibilities of George Hamilton, who is retiring.

The Aspire Group hired Christian McCormick as sales consultant at Army, Nathaniel Prescod as sales and service consultant at the UK National Sales Center, Corbin Mayo as ticket sales consultant at Rutgers, Anthony Torre as ticket sales consultant at Seton Hall, Kristophor Ware and Talia Hammonds as sales consultants at the USA National Sales Center, and Amber Nichols as social media strategist associate in the corporate office. It promoted Matt Zygmund to senior service and retention consultant, Doug Bean to senior group sales consultant and John Rivers to team leader new business consultant at Rutgers; Jay Anderson to senior sales consultant at UAB; and Steve Marino to senior group sales consultant at Western Michigan.

Ascendent Sports Group named Ted Van Zelst vice president of business development, Stephanie Marciano manager of sales communications and account management, Charles de Cabrol senior coordinator of business development and partnership marketing and Niha Reddy and Michael Schenker coordinators of business development and partnership marketing.

WOOL
Ketchum Sports & Entertainment named Ann Wool president of its global unit. It also hired Steph Burke as vice president and associate director in London and promoted Shawn McBride to executive vice president of sports and Courtney Nally to senior vice president and group manager for entertainment.

Media
Flocasts named Chris Long East Coast sales director and Eric Gould Bear chief experience officer.

Motorsports
The Verizon IndyCar Series named Marvin Riley director of engine development. Riley was with Honda Performance Development.

NASCAR named Edwin Gotay director of multicultural marketing and Matt Summers senior director of entertainment and content development.

Soccer
The Houston Dynamo put President Chris Canetti in charge of BBVA Compass Stadium. Canetti also oversees the Houston Dynamo and NWSL Dash clubs.

Sporting Goods and Apparel
Bob McKnight retired as senior executive at Quiksilver, which named Andy Mooney chair and Pierre Agnes president.

The Finish Line named Samuel Sato president.

Sports Authorities and Tourism Boards
The Harris County-Houston Sports Authority named Doug Hall president of the Houston local organizing committee for the 2016 NCAA Men’s Final Four. Hall was general manager for BBVA Compass Stadium.

Other
WWE named Lou Schwartz chief digital officer.

One Fighting Championship named Rich Franklin vice president of promotions. Franklin is a former UFC fighter.

The American College of Sports Medicine named Nathan Boudreaux director of corporate partnerships. Boudreaux was associate director of partnership marketing for USA Football.

StubHub named Jonah Freedman editor in chief. Freedman was managing editor at MLSSoccer.com.

Executive search firm Prodigy Sports named Melanie Sabol coordinator.

Awards and Boards
Central Michigan University Athletic Director Dave Heeke was named NCAA D-I Baseball Committee chair.

Under Armour appointed Karen Katz to its board of directors. She is Neiman Marcus Group president and chief executive officer.
