Bills’ Owen exits for foundation

Owen
Mary Owen, Buffalo Bills executive vice president of strategic planning and one of the highest-ranking female NFL team executives, is stepping down from her position to run the foundation of the team’s late owner, her uncle Ralph Wilson. Owen is the first high-profile departure from the team since Wilson’s death in March. NFL owners on Wednesday approved the team’s sale to Terry Pegula.

Owen, who is on the NFL International Committee, oversaw the team’s games in Toronto, as well as the decision to pull back from that effort this year.

Owen’s departure leaves only a handful of senior female NFL team executives, including Katie Blackburn, Cincinnati Bengals executive vice president; Dawn Aponte, Miami Dolphins vice president of football operations; and Jeanne Bonk, San Diego Chargers executive vice president and chief financial officer.
