Baseball

The Arizona Diamondbacks named Brett Wallerstedt senior account executive. Wallerstedt was director of sales and associate general manager for Arizona State University.

Basketball

Mark Wright left his position as corporate communications manager for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Colleges

The American Athletic Conference named Dan Leibovitz associate commissioner for men’s basketball. Leibovitz was assistant coach for player development for the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Horizon League named Julie Roe Lach deputy commissioner, effective Aug. 4. Roe Lach founded JRL Consulting and was formerly vice president of enforcement for the NCAA.

Air Force Academy Athletic Director Hans Mueh will retire after the 2014-15 school year.

Catawba College named Larry Leckonby athletic director. Leckonby was athletic director at The Citadel.

Niagara University named Simon Gray athletic director. Gray was the acting athletic director at Eastern Kentucky University.

Ohio University named Michael Stephens senior associate athletic director for external operations. Stephens was assistant athletic director for marketing and licensing for the University of Nebraska.

The University of South Florida named Lelo Prado associate athletic director for administration and external services. Prado was baseball coach at South Florida.

San Francisco State University named Charles Guthrie athletic director. Guthrie was athletic director at Clark College.

Texas Tech University named Andy Rowdon assistant athletic director for promotions and fan engagement. Rowdon was director of marketing and revenue generation at Arizona State University.

Sacramento State University Athletic Director Terry Wanless will retire, effective June 30.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell named Ashley Robbins associate director for communications. Robbins was assistant director of media relations at Longwood University.

Whitworth University named Tim Demant athletic director. Demant was athletic director at Goshen College.

Facilities

Bristol Motor Speedway hired Becky Cox as vice president of communications. Kevin Triplett becomes vice president of public affairs. 

Dover Motorsports named Patrick McMaster manager of business development for Dover International Speedway. McMaster was director of ticket sales and corporate partnerships for the Class AA Eastern League’s Trenton (N.J.) Thunder.

The Memphis Grizzlies named Jeff Olson director of event booking at FedEx Forum. Olson was a consultant with ArenaNetwork.

Football

The NFL named Jimmy Raye II, Mike Reinfeldt and Mike Singletary senior advisers to Troy Vincent, league executive vice president of football operations.

The Cleveland Browns promoted Bill Kuharich to executive chief of staff. 

The Miami Dolphins promoted Joe Schoen to director of player personnel. 

The Tennessee Titans Radio Network parted ways with executive producer and game-day host Larry Stone.

Golf

The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America named Craig Smith, owner of Double Eagle Communications, as director of communications and media relations. 

Hockey

The Boston Bruins promoted Glen Thornborough to senior vice president of sales and marketing. The team also named Jessica Isner content administrator and Karen Wonoski alumni coordinator.

The Columbus Blue Jackets promoted Ian Bernadas to premium seating account executive. The team also named Brad Bellissimo and Cody Craig season-ticket service coordinators and Ethan Saporito premium seating account executive.

The San Jose Sharks named Larry Robinson director of player development in addition to his duties as associate coach.

Entercom Boston
promoted Melissa Capuano to director of sales and Kelly Sutton to cluster sales manager for the company’s sports and talk stations. The company also expanded Dana Panepinto’s responsibilities as director of sports sponsorship sales beyond the Boston Red Sox Radio Network.

ESPN promoted Jeffrey Gonyo to vice president of marketing, brand strategy and expressions, and executive creative director.

The Chicago Tribune promoted Joe Knowles to associate managing editor for sports. Knowles replaces Michael Kellams, who was named associate managing editor for business.

MLB Network promoted Rob McGlarry to executive vice president of content.

Marketing

Freedom Sports and Entertainment promoted Jamie Levitt to director of ticket sales at Western Kentucky University and named Adam Mercer to the outbound ticket sales team.

Andy Bagnato and Kristen Pflipsen announced the launch of Bagnato Pflipsen Communications. Bagnato and Pflipsen were public relations executives for the Fiesta Bowl. 

Collegiate Consulting hired Wendy Carpio as director of tickets sales at the University of Detroit Mercy.

Experience named Nate Klein director of sales and Nick Arndt director of sales and retention. Klein was senior director of partner services at the Collegiate Licensing Co., and Arndt was director of season-ticket sales for the Cleveland Indians.
