Sites add FanSnap ticket listing search

FanSnap, a startup meta-search engine for secondary tickets, has struck partnerships with Bleacher Report and Yardbarker to integrate its search capabilities into the popular sports sites.

With the deals, FanSnap modules will appear prominently on each of the sites. In some instances, the placements will be done in connection with content on the sites, with the highlighted ticket listings matching teams and events being discussed.

Specific financial terms of the deals were not disclosed, but they involve revenue sharing.

FanSnap, backed by $10.5 million in venture capital funding, started its beta site last fall and collates the ticket resale listings of nearly 60 sites and more than 37,000 events.

“The first steps were to get up and running and get the product right,” said Mike Janes, FanSnap founder and chief executive. “Now, we’re turning to distribution. These are great sites that are generating a big following, and the best thing for us is [that] the way we integrate, it’s not really advertising, but more like another piece of content.”

For Yardbarker, a blog aggregator perhaps best known for its collection of athlete-penned blogs, and Bleacher Report, an outpost of citizen sports journalism, the FanSnap alignments are an attempt to flesh out their range of offerings.

“This is another important step in our providing an all-around experience,” said David Nemetz, co-founder of Bleacher Report. “This fits with what a user expects to see on a sports site, but the great thing is that it’s not just a limited stream of inventory from one provider but an open range of options, which fits in directly with our philosophy.”

Said Pete Vlastelica, Yardbarker chief executive, “Aligning with FanSnap was about more than just offering a ticket solution to our users. We can do that with any number of partners. … We think FanSnap has solved some of the hard problems related to searching for tickets on the Web, and they do it with an elegant user interface that delivers satisfying results.”
