Inside the Construction of Heinz Field

Financing: The Pittsburgh Steelers will contribute more than $123 million of the $280.8 million total cost, including $57 million expected from H.J. Heinz Co. for naming rights over 20 years. The stadium is part of an overall $943 million project in the city that also provides for the construction costs related to the building of the Pittsburgh Pirates' new PNC Park, retirement of the debt on Three Rivers Stadium and razing of the stadium, and expanding the city's convention center. The public contribution to the total project comes in the form of $185.1 million in hotel tax revenue bonds, $173 million in Regional Asset District bonds, $299.3 million in state funding and $41 million in federal funding — for the necessary infrastructure road work and associated transportation enhancements. The balance of the overall project's funding comes from the Pirates ($47.7 million), bond interest ($27.4 million), the city's stadium authority ($15.2 million) and other sources that include Pittsburgh Water & Sewage, Strategic Investment Fund, Heinz Foundation, Alcosan and the joint city/county Sports & Exhibition Authority ($31.1 million).

General contractor: Hunt Construction Group

Construction manager: Mascaro Construction Co.

Concessionaire: Aramark Corp.

Pouring rights: Coca-Cola Co.
