Media Notes: AFC Hiring Experts To Help Combat BeoutQ IP Theft

The Asian Football Confederation is "roping in experts to step up its fight against Intellectual Property theft by pirate channel beoutQ," which illegally broadcast last month’s Asian Cup. A number of football bodies, including FIFA and UEFA, pursued legal action in Saudi Arabia against beoutQ last month (REUTERS, 2/19).

Ascot Racecourse announced new int'l media rights deals with At The Races and SIS. ATR and SIS will effectively work alongside each other on a split contract, "a not dissimilar situation to that which exists for Chelmsford," which joined Racing TV from ATR (RACING POST, 2/19).

Sportradar teamed up with Germany-based Sport1 to showcase the eFootball.Pro League. Sport1 acquired platform-neutral rights to broadcast the fixtures, with live and highlight coverage of the current season in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The sports platform will livestream the fixtures on SPORT1.de, in addition to on its YouTube channel and again on eSPORTS1 (SBC NEWS, 2/19).

Eleven Sports is launching apps on Amazon Fire TV Stick and Android TVs in the U.K. and Ireland. Viewers can already watch Eleven Sports on TV via Google Chromecast, and the new apps are now available to download for Amazon Fire TV Stick and Android TVs, with apps for Samsung Smart TVs coming soon (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 2/18).
