Media Notes: IMG Reliance Will Not Show PSL In India Over Terrorist Attack

The Pakistan Super League's Indian rights holder, IMG Reliance, on Sunday pulled out from broadcasting the PSL "in protest against the Pulwama terrorist attack." On Thursday, at least 40 paramilitary troopers were killed in a terror attack "while several others are battling for their lives following what is being termed as the deadliest terrorist strike in three decades in Jammu and Kashmir." In a statement, the broadcaster said, "Due to unfortunate events a couple of days back which resulted in the death of Indian soldiers, IMG Reliance is pulling out with immediate effects, from offering broadcast production services for PSL" (PTI, 2/17).

Sky Sports will show all four golf Majors in '19 after it reclaimed the rights to the U.S. PGA Championship. Sky lost the rights to the PGA in '16, with the tournament being broadcast by the BBC in '17 and Eleven Sports in '18 (IRISH TIMES, 2/15).

Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reportedly did not show a Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Augsburg on Friday "because German referee Bibiana Steinhaus was officiating." The broadcast was reportedly canceled "because the country's strict Islamic regulations do not allow the showing of images of women wearing clothes that reveal large amounts of skin, such as football shorts" (DEUTSCHE WELLE, 2/17).
