Olympique Lyonnais President Announces Plans For 15,000-Seat Venue

Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas announced plans to build an entertainment venue next to the club’s Groupama Stadium, according to L’ÉQUIPE. Aulas said that the venue would host concerts, conferences and sports events such as basketball, handball and ice hockey. The project is part of a five-year strategic plan backed by the OL Groupe administration council. Aulas said that the venue will have a capacity of 12,000-15,000, and will be completed in “two to three years” (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/13). 20 MINUTES’ Jérémy Laugier reported Aulas said, “We will be able to host all the events that the Lyon Métropole cannot. Such a private project would be a boon for everyone, especially since we have the know-how and the means to do so” (20 MINUTES, 2/13).
