FIFA Awards 2022 World Cup Rights In Spain To Mediapro

FIFA awarded Mediapro the rights for Spain to the 2022 World Cup, which is to be held in Qatar from Nov. 21-Dec. 18, according to Robert Briel of BROADBAND TV NEWS. Mediapro will create a dedicated 24/7 channel in Spain for the World Cup. In addition to the broadcast of the tournament matches, the channel "will offer an all-around programming schedule with analysis, news, interviews, training sessions, press conferences and historic matches." The agreement with FIFA also includes the broadcasting rights to the Women’s World Cup 2019, taking place in France this summer. Moreover, the deal includes the acquisition of the broadcasting rights to a series of other FIFA events in the '10-22 cycle (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 1/20).
