Executive Transactions: Facebook Promotes Dan Reed

Facebook announced a restructuring of its sports team, with DAN REED promoted to VP of global sports & media partnerships. Reed's new role will go beyond sport to manage two other teams: global media accounts and media community development (SportBusiness). ... RAFA BENÍTEZ was offered a one-year extension to his contract at Newcastle United to "sort out the latest transfer window standoff that is threatening his future at the club." Newcastle is "still to receive a firm offer to ensure exclusivity to go through the club’s books" as Owner MIKE ASHLEY attempts to sell for £280M-£300M ($356M-$382M), "despite the emergence of a letter" from former Chelsea CEO PETER KENYON "confirming his desire to lead his consortium to a successful takeover" (SUNDAY TIMES, 1/6). ... League One side Bristol Rovers appointed caretaker coach GRAHAM COUGHLAN as its manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal. The 44-year-old former defender had been in interim charge since former Manager DARRELL CLARKE's exit on Dec. 13 (BBC, 1/6).
